Wholebox's founding story began in 2021 when my then-roommate approached me with an entrepreneurial opportunity, initially unrelated to what Wholebox would become. He had previously been working with someone named Shannon on a recycling venture that ultimately did not succeed. After parting ways amicably, Shannon shifted focus to a program on sustainable seafood, which sparked my interest in addressing the gap in the market for fresh, affordable seafood that connects directly with consumers—particularly younger generations who may not be familiar with the variety and preparation of fresh fish and seafood available in traditional wet markets.
Inspired by this idea, we envisioned creating not just a product but a community centered around the appreciation of fresh seafood and produce. This led to the relaunch of Wholebox. Our aim is to enrich this community by sharing recipes, teaching cooking techniques, and reintroducing the diversity of seafood that previous generations enjoyed, thereby making Wholebox a platform for those passionate about fresh, sustainable seafood.
